It has been a known fact that seeking the help of third party public relations companies such as the New York Public Relations Firms are a great advantage to improving the standing of your organization.  However, this does not necessarily imply that you have to succumb to their help all the time.  Sometimes, investing on third party help such as from the Public relations NYC can be a challenge on the part of the company, especially on the costs that they would have to face.  Fortunately, there is an effective alternative for the heavy costs that employing an effective but external PR arm can bring.

An ideal resolution to this would be to create an internal public relations team instead.  How is this possible?  Through rigid training sessions and exposure to actual work, internal employees can be shaped up as effective public relations staff.  This is a less expensive way to be able to come up with a public relations strategy.  Although hiring ones from the external sources guarantee you of a more experienced staff, mastering the art of public relations is something that can be learned.  Though they may not be successful on their first try, continuous learning can actually make your internal staff exceed the things that the previous external ones have done.

Why is it better to develop internal employees as public relations staff, you ask?  One of the main reasons would be the fact that these people are more familiar with your company as compared to others. Since they have been working for you longer than those from the external arm, they have a better idea of what the company really needs in terms of publicity and visibility.  They hold more experience with regards to the processes that you abide with.  Apart from that, in one way or another, they are more trustworthy since you have an idea of what and how they perform.  Developing them into specialized staff would actually be easier than collaborating with PR firms that you actually are not that much familiar with.

However, this does not necessarily imply that external PR firms are useless and not worthy of your trust.  In this case, you are going to need them for another purpose.  They will serve as trainers and frequent consultants with regards to how you build up your PR team.  The advantage of PR firms is that they actually specialize in public relations only.  Among others, they are the ones with the most knowledge on that field.  If there are some things that you cannot handle by you and your team, then they would be willing to be your consultants in times of need.

With an internal PR arm, a lot of benefits can be realized.  First, you get to save costs on collaborating with external PR firms by creating a PR arm within your group.  Second, you and your team get a hands-on experience on the field, which will be very helpful in future endeavors.  Third and most importantly, you get to contribute on the development of your staff as they acquire more specializations as compared to what they possess beforehand.
